Tax Day Rally connects voters with candidates

MOSES LAKE - Tuesday's Tax Day Rally in Moses Lake gave conservative voters a chance to meet and hear from about a dozen candidates running for office in November's election.
The rally, organized by the United to Win coalition, brought nearly 100 Grant County residents to the Twin Towers Memorial at Civic Center Park.
The rally included vendor displays from conservative business owners, as well as displays from local groups, including the Grant County/Moses Lake Tea Party Coalition, Grant County GOP and the Republican Women of Grant County.
United to Win was organized to unifying conservative voters to support and elect Republican candidates both nationally and locally, organizer Ann Mix said.
Justin Weis with the Kittitas County Republican Party said Republican voters need to stop fighting with one another and come together to elect a Republican governor.
Several Congressional candidates were on hand Tuesday afternoon, including Eltopia farmer Clint Didier, Dan Newhouse, former director of the state Department of Agriculture, Franklin County Commissioner Brad Peck, Kennewick caregiver Jamie Wheeler, Kennewick attorney George Cicotte and 13th District Sen. Janéa Holmquist Newbry, all running to replace Doc Hastings who announced his retirement last month.
"Focusing on what unites us instead of what divides us is so beautiful," Holmquist Newbry said. "It makes me so proud to be your state senator."
Among the local candidates to speak were auditor candidate Melissa McKnight, county Clerk Kim Allen, Michele Jaderlund, running for county auditor, Prosecutor Angus Lee, Sheriff Tom Jones, district court Judge Tyson Hill, Rep. Matt Manweller, and running for District 13 state senator, Tom Dent and Dani Bolyard.
