Hastings weighs in on health care

| July 4, 2012 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - After U.S. Rep. Richard "Doc" Hastings, R-Pasco, visited Grant County on Monday, he certainly made his view of last week's Supreme Court decision on health care clear.

"I was disappointed in the decision because I felt that Obamacare was unconstitutional in a variety of ways," he said. "I voted to repeal Obamacare, and next week when I go back, I'll vote again to repeal it."

Hastings toured facilities in Moses Lake and Othello, during the congressional Fourth of July break.

"The issue of government-run health care is in the hands of the people. That's why we have elections," he said. "And I think that this election will be a referendum on not only President Obama, but a referendum on whether we should have government-run health care."
