Sue Matsumura

Sue Yamamoto Matsumura, 94, of Grandview, WA passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Grandview, WA. She was born on December 17, 1917 in Sugar City, Idaho the daughter of Makino (Kawamoto) and Sagitaro Yamamoto. Her youth was spent in Wapato, WA where Sue graduated from Wapato High School in 1935. On January 30, 1938 she married Kiyoshi Matsumura in Wapato. Following WWII, Sue moved to Moses Lake where she raised her family. She continued to live in Moses Lake, WA until 2000, when Sue moved to the lower valley. She enjoyed bowling, and attending Nisei Women's Club.

Sue is survived by her daughter Judy Filler (John) of Las Vegas, NV and one son Bruce Matsumura (Gail) of Prosser, WA. Four grandchildren Evan Filler of Reno, NV and Nikki Filler of Santa Barbara, CA, Sam Matsumura and Molly Matsumura both of Prosser, WA. One sister, Aiko Arita of Moses Lake, WA and one brother Richard Yamamoto (Mary) of Davis, CA. A memorial service with inurnment will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima, WA.
