Warden business burglarized

WARDEN - Mel's This 'N That on South Main Street in Warden was burglarized Thursday morning.
Warden Police Chief Ken Krebs said no arrests were made and there are no suspects. He said police were working to document fingerprints located on broken liquor bottles Thursday.
Krebs suspects more than one person is involved in the burglary.
Entry was gained by breaking the security glass in the front door of the business. The suspects exited through the broken glass in the door.
Store Owner Mel Williams said the suspects stole at least three bottles of liquor and broke five more. The majority of the liquor stolen was tequila worth nearly $200.
Williams said he became aware of the burglary at 4 a.m., Thursday morning, when he received a phone call from his business' alarm company notifying him of a disturbance. The police were called immediately.
"All the way over I hoped it was a mouse, but it wasn't," Williams said.
When he arrived, he saw broken liquor bottles in the street, broken glass and disrupted liquor bottles inside the store.
He guessed the suspects fled once the alarm initiated, possibly leading to the bottles being broken due to panic.
The object used to break the glass in the door was not located at the scene.
"Whatever it was, it was big," Williams said.
He said the safety glass in the door is a quarter inch thick. The glass in the door was scheduled to be replaced yesterday afternoon.
