Marie Annette Bond

| September 7, 2006 9:00 PM

Marie Annette Bond, 67, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away at Samaritan Hospital on Friday, Sept. 1, 2006 after a sudden heart attack.

Marie was born Feb. 4, 1939 to Marion and Louise (Steelman) Soden at home in Richland, Ore. She moved north to Moses Lake with her family and grandparents in 1951 where they homesteaded a small farm and ranch in Block 40. This was when the irrigation district was being built in the Columbia Basin. Marie attended Moses Lake schools and graduated in 1957. Marie married Keith Mealhouse on June 12, 1976. She later married David Bond on May 12, 1984. There were no children from either union.

Marie had a zest for life and a deep love of God and family. She was a member of the Moses Lake Christian Church until her health prevented her from attending. To her family she was kind and giving. The last years of her life were clouded with leg problems due to diabetes, but she bore this affliction with courage and fortitude. Marie loved children and operated a daycare out of her home for several years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, writing letters, crafts, going to the fair, shopping and Elvis Presley! One of the highlights in her life was when she and a friend, Christina Bettis, went to Nashville and Graceland.

Marie is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and Peggy Soden of Moses Lake; one stepsister, Susan Taxter of Spokane; and one step-brother and step-sister-in-law, Ron and Roni Schuh of Kennewick; one aunt, Dorothy Groff Moses Lake; three nieces and husbands, Debra and Joe DeAguiar of George; Tarorny Walters of Moses Lake; Teresa Wade King of Coulee City; step-nephews, Clint Taxter, Spokane; Brock Schuh, Kennewick; and step-nieces, Jamie Taxter, Spokane; Kaylee and Courtney Schuh, Kennewick; as well as a large nurnber of relatives and special friends at Sun Bridge.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, David Bond; father, Marion Soden; mother, Louise Schuh; and step-father, Lawrence Schuh; maternal grandparents, Conrad J. and Erna G. (Decker) Steelman; and paternal Grandparents, Samuel and Louella (Nash) Soden.

And now she has passed through the valley of shadow into eternal light.
