Thomas "Tom" D. Evans

Thomas "Tom" D. Evans, 56, longtime Moses Lake resident passed away at his home Thursday, May 4.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday at Kayser's Chapel of Memories with Pastor Dave Chandler officiating. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday until 7 p.m. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Tom was born Aug. 3, 1949 in LaGrande, Ore., son of Philip Dean and Georgia B. (Ackley) Evans. The family settled in Moses Lake in 1959, where Tom had resided since. He completed his education in Moses Lake, graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1967. While growing up he enjoyed playing baseball in the Little League and Pony League summer programs.

Tom served in the U. S. Marines in Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal with one bronze star, and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Moses Lake.

Tom's sense of humor was well known and very infectious. He loved cars, especially any Chevy "muscle car." He also enjoyed building model cars. He always enjoyed and looked forward to having coffee with his friends every day.

He is survived by his three children; Dana Evans, Moses Lake, Thomas D. Evans, Jr., Moses Lake, Philip J. Evans, Moses Lake; father, Phil Evans, Spokane; one brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Debby Evans, Ridgefield; two nephews, Jeff Evans, Portland, Ore., Brad and Aimee Evans, Vancouver; and one grandniece, Esmerelda Evans, Portland, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Evans and one brother, Tim Evans.
