Artie Rose Pomeroy

Artie Rose Pomeroy, 86, passed away April 20 after a two-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. She was born Feb. 16, 1920 in Fairfield, Neb. to Lewis and Maud Shaw. She attended local country schools and graduated as valedictorian for the country in eighth grade. She graduated from Edgar High School, Edgar, Neb. in 1938, also as valedictorian.

She married Stewart Pomeroy on Sept. 7, 1943, while he was serving in the Army-Air Corps during WWII. They were stationed at Turner Field, Ga. Following his military service, they farmed in Nebraska until moving to Othello in 1959. Artie worked as a bookkeeper for local aviation businesses and Stewart continued to farm until their retirement.

Artie was a member of the Christian Church of Othello.

For the past few months, they have resided at The Hearthstone Inn in Moses Lake.

Artie was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Stewart Pomeroy, at the Hearthstone Inn; sister Jennie Keeney of Wenatchee; three children, Mary Linda Stout, Dale Pomeroy and Connie Schmidt; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a host of special nieces, nephews and friends.

Artie will always be remembered for her love of the Lord, her dedication to her family and her gentle spirit.
