Virginia M. Curtis, 84, longtime Moses Lake resident and a woman of great faith, joined her Lord and heavenly family on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005 at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation. A memorial service will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1020 S. A. St., Moses Lake at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory, Moses Lake.

Virginia was born January 27, 1921, in Chokio, Minn., to Walter and Antonia (Fischer) Zimmerman, she was the eldest of their eight children. This responsibility, plus the hard work on the family farm, set the standard for the rest of her life. Virginia approached all activities in her life with a positive and inspiring spirit, always starting the day with a smile and a good word, lifting the spirits of fellow workers, friends and family. After her marriage to Robert J. Curtis, on Oct. 10, 1940, they traveled with Bob's work to Alabama, Wisc. and Washington, returning to Minnesota as their home base, until they finally settled in Moses Lake on May 1, 1950. Often commenting she had arrived in Eden, she was an active member of the community, a founding member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and a longtime member of the Moses Lake Garden Club. She loved boating on the lake, long walks, music, cheering on the local softball teams and traveling. She is especially well remembered as the secretary for 22 years at Lakeview Terrace Elementary School, where she had a special connection with the children and staff.

Virginia will be remembered for her positive and infectious enthusiasm for life and way that she was able to recognize and bring out the best in family, friends and those she encountered on her paths through life. She touched and positively influenced many members of this community. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by daughters, Caren, Moses Lake, and Lois (Dave) Wickwire/Wilcox of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; son, Dean, daughter-in-law, Debra, Moses Lake, Wa.; sisters, Bernice (Elmer) Madsen, Arlys (Wayne) O'Connor, Graceville, Minn.; and Judi Gregory, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
