From the Columbia Basin Daily Herald on Sept. 16, 1977:

China painters will instruct

A number of internationally-known porcelain artists will conduct a four-day workshop at Central Washington University, Ellensburg starting Sept. 22 under sponsorship of the Washington State Federation of China Painters.

Delegates and students are expected from throughout the Northwest and from as far away as Australia, according to Opal White, of Pasco, president of the state federation.

A highlight of the convention and workshop will be a public sale of hand-painted porcelains beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 in Munson Hall on the CWU campus.

Council installs officers

Officers for North Central Washington Square Dance Council were installed at Ephrata with Wilfred Erickson of Quincy as president.

Other officers are: Jiggs Gentry, Wenatchee, vice-president; Art Mackey, Moses Lake, treasurer; Lorraine Williamson, Moses Lake, secretary; Mac McGraith, Ephrata, area delegate; Cecil Wiltse, Royal City, nominating committeeman.

A callers’ workshop by Bob Wright Sr. of Seattle is scheduled Nov. 18 through 20 at Seattle for the first 10 callers to sign up.

A square dance sponsored by the NCW Council will be at Ephrata in the ERC building Oct. 29.

The next council meeting will be Nov. 13 at Wenatchee at McCurry’s Barn.
