Event runs through Sunday
MOSES LAKE - The 2008 Spring Fair/Home Show starts today, kicking off a weekend of home improvement seminars, carnival rides, music and more.
Grant County Fairgrounds Manager Bill West said The Home Depot seminar includes a kid craft activity where kids get to work on a project. He said it's a chance to get kids interested in building and teach them skills they can use later in life.
Other seminars are conducted by Lowe's.
The Davis Show Carnival is open Friday at 2 p.m., Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at noon. The carnival remains open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and until 6 p.m. on Sunday. It is located in the south field.
Admission is one ticket per ride at $3.50. Discounts are available when tickets are purchased as a book in groups of 10.
Other attractions over the weekend include a junior livestock sale, a 4-H tack swap and a dog agility show held in the south field.
Saturday at 8 a.m. the Moses Lake Junior Rodeo Rough Stock School is in the rodeo arena and a truck sled pull is Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the rodeo arena.
"I think the truck pull will be a big draw for us," West said.
West said the best seats are going to be in the grandstands.
Organizations represented at the fairgrounds include the Walleye Club, National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, and the Washington Department of Wildlife.
An array of vendors is featured at the fairgrounds representing businesses from real estate to candy.
To keep going during the activity-laden fair, attendees can fuel themselves with a smorgasbord of food. Teriyaki, Mexican food, barbecue, corn dogs, popcorn, burgers, fries and root beer floats are all available. A fair favorite, the Space Burgers are landing this weekend too.
An added bonus for fairgoers is the hourly giveaway drawings held in the commercial building.
Musical performances include the Rock 'n B Cloggers Saturday at 2:15 p.m. and Topstring at 3:15 p.m. The Herm Danielson Band on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Ke Buena bands Sunday at noon.
The Grant County Fairgrounds is located at 3953 Airway Drive N.E.
