NEW YORK (AP) Jordan-based Arab Bank say it's thankful a New York court ruling brings to a close a civil case American victims of suicide bombings had filed against it.

A federal appeals court in Manhattan issued a written ruling Friday rejecting a 2014 jury verdict in the case. The decision concluded the jury was instructed improperly and normally would have set the stage for a retrial, but the litigants negotiated how to settle the case under terms dictated by how the appeals court ruled.

The ruling triggers a settlement deal with hundreds of victims of a wave of Hamas-sanctioned attacks in the early 2000s that left several Americans dead or wounded. The terms of the settlement haven't been disclosed.

A plaintiffs' lawyer says plaintiffs will receive "very substantial compensation for their injuries."
