Numbers don’t lie in Trump election

Print Article

Based solely on his belief, the president created a commission to investigate the voter fraud of 3-5 million illegal ballots cast for Hillary Clinton. He has asserted that he would have won the popular vote were it not for these illegal votes. This is his “reality.”

Here are the results of the 2016 presidential election: 137,100,229 people voted.

Clinton got 65,853,625 of these votes. Trump received 62,985,101 votes. Johnson garnered 4,489,233 vote; Stein got 1,457,222; the write-ins for other people added another 1,129,478; McMullen received 731,709; and other candidates collectively took a total of 453,856.

The non-Trump votes total 74,115,128.

The reality is this:

A. The president took the Electoral College votes.

B. One could say that Trump lost the popular vote by 74,115,128 votes.

C. If one wants to be a purist about it, Trump lost the popular vote by 11,130,027 votes (non-Trump votes minus Trump votes).

D. Trump is the president. Why is he so worried about the popular vote? The election is over.
