Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 1/11/2017
Receipts: 3,500 Week ago: 2,892 Year ago: 3,312
***MID-SESSION***
Compared to last week, steer calves under 500 lbs selling steady while those
over 500 lbs are 1.00 to 4.00 higher. Heifer calves under 500 lbs selling 1.00
to 2.00 lower and over 500 lbs steady to 3.00 higher. Not enough yearlings on
hand to test. Producers liked the CME futures turn around yesterday as they
finished the day off very strong and the Board was holding together early in the
trading session today, however the whole Ag complex is now lower on the close.
Also encouraging is the early fed cattle auction as the FCE sold their showlist
this week from 119.00 to 120.00 this week, 2.00 to 3.00 higher than the same
auction a week ago. Demand was moderate to good; best on calves with a nice
offering of good quality calves weighing from 450-750 lbs. Feeder supply
included 62 percent Steers, 1 percent Holstein Steers, 33 percent Heifers, and
4 percent Bulls. Feeder Supply over 600 lbs was 53 percent.
