David Mark Womack

David Mark Womack, 67, of Ephrata, Wash., passed away Nov. 6, 2023, due to cardiac arrest. 

David was born at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake, Wash., to Willard and Sandra Womack on March 5, 1956. He went to Ephrata High School and played on the varsity golf, baseball, and football teams. He graduated high school in 1974. David joined the United States Army National Guard in March of 1976. David spent six years serving and honoring our beloved country.

In 1984 after receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army National Guard, David headed south to the Arizona sunshine. David spent many years in Tempe, Ariz., and the surrounding Phoenix area working at bowling alleys, pro shops and golf courses. David really enjoyed golf and worked at the Scottsdale Country Club. He joked that his dream job would be Head Greenskeeper at Augusta National. In the early '90s he moved back to the Ephrata area and worked at the Moses Lake Country Club. David worked at Lakeview Golf & Country Club up till his passing. Outside of bowling and golf, David enjoyed fishing, darts, sports, sports collectibles, NASCAR racing and music.

David is survived by his son, Matthew Hector, grandchildren Lauren Hector and Ryder Hector, sister Laurie Ruth (Womack), niece Elizabeth Ruth and nephew Adam Ruth.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Willard Womack and Sandra Hintz (Womack)

A celebration of life is being held at Time Out Pizza, 1095 Basin Street SW, Ephrata, Wash., on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 4:30-7 p.m. Food and drinks provided. Please join us in remembering David “Wombat” Womack. Cheers!
